About Our Volunteers
Our volunteers vary in age, hometown, available free time, and gardening experience. They share a commitment to the Garden’s mission. Volunteers include teens, retirees, and full-time workers who join us on weekends. The Naval Submarine School in Groton come and help us with some of the ‘heavy lifting,’ such as shoveling mountains of compost, replacing blueberry netting, or taking the garden down at the end of the growing season.
Some volunteers have the gardener’s gene and have been gardening since childhood, while others have never gardened. Most are in between. Regardless, everyone is welcome to be part of our community and contribute to the common good. |
Ways to Contribute
We gather in the Common Good Gardens on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday - days that correspond with the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries schedules.
Depending on the weather, we normally begin at 9:00 A.M. and work ‘till noon. However, we have a "come when you can approach". The Common Good Gardens is a flexible place. |
